Truth or Dare

Jami's blog highlighting her wonderfully clean refrigerator gave me an idea (it may be a flop, but it's worth a try!). Let's play a little game of Truth or Dare.

If you choose Truth - leave a comment - What is the grossest thing you've ever found growing in your fridge.

If you choose Dare - post a picture on your blog of your fridge today - as is (just leave a comment with a link to your blog).

Let's play! I choose dare:

I am definitely not up for sharing my fridge on this blog (although I have to say I'm motivated and I will be cleaning it this week). So I guess that means I have to do truth. Hmmm.... we're big leftovers people so we eat most of our leftovers. I have stuff buried in my pantry more likely (too much stuff and we forget about things). I have moldy bread/ muffins, etc. a lot. We cleaned it out recently and I had cans of food that expired in 02 (I really thought I'd use artichoke hearts).

Several years back we cleaned out Ben's grandma's deep freezer and she had meat from 1974 in there! Yuck!!! Her health had been bad for awhile so she hadn't been able to reach it, thank goodness.

Krisy's story reminds me of one about my grandma...she remarried in her 70;s after twenty some years of being a widow and she moved to Naumburg, New York. My parents, myself and my uncle went out to visit her in 1985 and she was serving us food from the 70's that my step-grandpa's wife had made and froze! YUCK!! She obviously did not believe in waste. When she went to pull out some cookies, my uncle said, "that sounds good mom, but could you make sure they are atleast from the 80's!" We all had a really good laugh and it has been a perpetual saying with the fam :-)

I have to take truth because after I saw Jami's fridge, I overhauled mine. So, I have found plenty of furry unidentifiable objects or FIO's for short in my fridge, but the grossest thing to date was probably a jug of milk that had been pushed to the back that even sealed had began to smell (and we drink skim!). I think I made cottage cheese... I am really bad about eating leftovers so about once every two weeks we find something new growing in our fridge.

Am I the only one who's interesting the truth? I've always suspected as much...

College - 2.5' of homemade (read, no preservatives) sausage left to "thaw" for 3-5 months. No Sam, I do not like green eggs and sausage...

I love the stories - meat from the 70s, old milk, green sausage - gross! but very funny!
