Mya set off on her first full day of school today. To say she was excited would be an understatement!
But, her first ride on the school bus was not the only excitement of the day -
I pulled the boys in the wagon to watch her off. Kory followed in his car. Once Mya was on the bus, we headed home and Kory headed to work.
The only problem was Kory had (out of habit) shut the garage door as he left. As he drove off to work, it hit me: the garage door was closed, the front door was locked,
WE WERE LOCKED OUT!
Just as it started to rain.
Exciting!
Thankfully, our neighbor was exiting her own house as I realized our predicament and I was able to grab her phone and call Kory before he got too far.
So, it's all good.
So now I will try to wait patiently for 3:00 to come (taking that whole praying without ceasing thing to heart) and be ready to hear all about the first day of school when my little girl gets off that bus.
Hopefully I will get more than an "I don't remember."
Regardless, I'll just be glad to have her home.
(PS Stay tuned for the experts response to my last technology etiquette question - first day of school stuff gets first dibs on this blog. I know you all are just dying to know what the experts say and see the next etiquette question, but you will just have to wait.)

I can't wait to hear how it went. I'm definitely more interested in Mya's first day of Kindergarten than I am in cell phone etiquette (sp?). But then, I'm not the most polite person either.
Praying right along with you! There's just something about seeing a saggy, gigantic backpack on my sweet little Maggie running, trying to catch up with her big sisters that seriously brings tears to my eyes. The excitement mixed with anticipation and a dash of fear...takes me back. Hope today goes well for Mya (and mom!). :)
You're such a big girl Mya! I can't wait to hear how your first day went!!
I was wondering if you'd have something about Mya's first day...what a great pic. I love the big backpacks too! I will be checking back to see how it went. I'm glad I have you to share in these life experiences!
way to go Mya and Mego too! :)
i bet it's so weird to have your first little honey heading off into the big world!! i bet it's a bunch of different emotions.
love ya,
shar
Yay Mya! I'm glad things are going well. It's so weird to watch them grow up, isn't it? I mean, it's exciting, but at the same time it's a little sad. My big guy has been in Kindergarten for technically 3 weeks now (although only 1 week of full days), and already he's learning things and doing homework. It's surreal - and now that he's learning about reading and spelling, our days of talking in "code" around him are over! Now he'll know when we're debating about going out for ice cream!
I really am glad that things are going well so far (and that you got back into your house!).
